PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide composite oxide particles as a carrier capable of imparting high heat resistance and oxygen storage capacity to a catalyst, and to provide a catalyst for automobile exhaust gas purification using the same.
SOLUTION : The composite oxide particles includes a ceria-zirconia composite oxide, alumina, yttria, and at least one of oxides of elements selected from rare earth-elements other than cerium and yttrium and alkaline earth metals. The content of alumina is 70-89 mass% to the composite oxide particles, and the content of yttria is 0.01-0.22 mol% to the ceria-zirconia composite oxide.
