PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a technique impossible for glass and single crystals by applying a polycrystal terbium oxide sintered compact having excellent translucency to a field not applying conventional glass and single crystals only containing terbium oxide partly.SOLUTION : A translucent terbium oxide sintered compact for magneto-optical elements is a cubic system polycrystal sintered compact whose main ingredient is TbOand which contains a rare earth element except Tb, has a porosity of 0.2% or less, has an in-line transmittance per 3 mm length of 70% or more at wavelengths of both 1.06 μm and 532 nm, and includes 2×10or more Tbions for 1 cm. |
