PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To efficiently promote combustion of a PM deposited on a particulate filter.
SOLUTION : A catalyst layer 22 provided on an exhaust gas passage wall 21 of a particulate filter comprises : a Pd-supported Zr-containing composite oxide in which palladium (Pd) 24 is supported on a Zr-containing composite oxide 23 containing zirconium (Zr) and a rare earth element other than cerium (Ce) as catalyst metals; and a Pt-supported Zr-containing composite oxide in which platinum (Pt) 25 is supported on a Zr-containing composite oxide 23 as a catalyst metal.
