PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To enhance the magnetic characteristics, such as magnetization and coercive force, of a Sm-Co-based magnet, and to provide a permanent magnet in which the mechanical characteristics, such as strength, can be enhanced.
SOLUTION : A permanent magnet includes a sintered compact having composition represented by a compositional formula : Rp1Feq1Mr1Cus1Co100-p1-q1-r1-s1(R is at least one kind selected from rare earth elements, M is at least one kind selected from Zr, Ti and Hf, 10≤p1≤13.3, 25≤q1≤40, 0.88≤r1≤5.4, 3.5≤s1≤13.5(atom%)). The sintered compact includes crystal grains consisting of a main phase including Th2Zn17 type crystal phase, and a Cu-rich phase having a composition of high Cu concentration and an average thickness in the range of 0.05-2 μm.
