PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a manufacturing method of a rare earth element-added barium thiosilicate phosphor for safely and efficiently manufacturing a rare earth-added Ba2SiS4phosphor having a high fluorescent luminance. SOLUTION : The manufacturing method of the rare earth element-added barium thiosilicate phosphor comprising an alkaline earth metal, silicon, sulfur and a rare earth element for imparting fluorescence comprises a first step for synthesizing (1) Ba2SiO4having a rare earth element uniformly dispersed therein or (2) a mixture of Ba2SiO4having a rare earth element uniformly dispersed therein, BaCO3having a rare earth element uniformly dispersed therein and Ba(NO3)2having Eu uniformly dispersed therein and SiO2, and a second step for subjecting Ba2SiO4having the rare earth element uniformly dispersed therein or the mixture obtained in the first step to a heat treatment in an inert gas containing carbon disulfide to reducingly sulfurize them.
