PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a nickel hydrogen storage battery, and a battery system having means for detecting a state of charge of the nickel hydrogen storage battery or a depth of discharge thereof.
SOLUTION : A nickel hydrogen storage battery according to an embodiment of the invention has an electrode group, and an alkaline electrolyte in an exterior can. The electrode group includes : a hydrogen-absorbable alloy negative electrode including, as a primary component, a hydrogen-absorbable alloy expressed by the general formula, LaxReyMg1-x-yNin-aMa (where Re represents at least one or more elements selected from rare earth elements (except La) including Y, and including at least Sm or Nd, and M represents at least one or more elements selected from Al, Co, Mn and Zn), provided that x/y is equal to or larger than 0.5; a nickel positive electrode including, as a primary component, nickel hydroxide; and a separator.
