PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing binder resin for polyester-based toner that enables both of glossiness of a printed matter and durability of obtained toner, a binder resin obtained by the method, and an electrostatic charge image developing toner containing the binder resin.
SOLUTION : There is provided a method for manufacturing binder resin for polyester-based toner including cyclic polyester (A) and chain polyester resin (B). A mass ratio of the cyclic polyester (A) and the chain polyester resin (cyclic polyester (A)/chain polyester resin) is 0.01/99.99-5.0/95.0. The method includes a step 1 of polycondensing an alcohol component, a carboxylic acid component and/or polyester in presence of a rare earth catalyst, at 200-250°C. There are also provided a binder resin obtained by the method, and an electrostatic charge image developing toner containing the binder resin.
