PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a Ce recovery method that makes it possible to selectively recover a high-purity Ce from a raw material containing Ce and other rare-earth elements and impurities in a short period of time by a small scale facility.
SOLUTION : The Ce recovery method comprises : a Ce removal step of adding a pH adjusting agent and an oxidizing agent to a solution containing at least Ce as a rare-earth element and adjusting the pH of the solution in the range of 2.5 to 5 to oxidize and precipitate Ce, followed by subjecting the oxidized and precipitated Ce to solid-liquid separation to obtain a precipitate whose Ce purity is 90% or less and chloride concentration is 3% or less; a Ce dissolution step of dissolving the precipitate into inorganic acid; a Ce extraction step of extracting Ce from the solution obtained by the Ce dissolution step by solvent extraction method, and a Ce back-extraction step of back-extracting Ce from the extract; a Ce precipitation step of precipitating Ce from the back-extract obtained; and a Ce recovery step of calcinating or desiccating the Ce precipitate to recover a high-purity Ce.
