PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a novel method for recovering rare earth elements from a molten metal including an iron element and rare earth elements, and a method for recycling the steel components in which the molten metal from which the rare earth elements are recovered can be recycled as the steel components.
SOLUTION : Provided is a method for recovering rare earth elements comprising : a transfer step of contacting a molten metal including an iron element and rare earth elements with a ceramic-containing porous member to transfer the rare earth elements to the porous member; and a recovery step of discharging the porous member from the molten metal so as to be recovered. In the recycling method, the porous member is recovered in the recovery step, and the remaining molten metal is recycled as steel raw material.
