The invention relates to a functional element for use in high-temperature applications, comprising a ceramic main body (114), wherein the ceramic main body (114) is at least partially surrounded by at least one ceramic coating (118) for protecting the functional element from thermal shock, wherein the at least one coating (118) has at least a fraction of an inorganic rare-earth-element compound. The ceramic coating (118) according to the invention is used as a protective coating against thermal shock and does not lose the hydrophobic effect of the ceramic coating even after long exposure times at high temperature and even when partially soiled. |
