The purpose of the preset invention is to provide a liquid crystal alignment agent capable of forming a liquid crystal display device of IPS and FFS mode with excellent properties such as rapid responsibility and the like, and a liquid crystal device of IPS and FFS mode equipped with a liquid crystal alignment film formed with the liquid crystal alignment agent, and a manufacturing method for the liquid crystal display device. The present invention is characterized by comprising a compound ([A] compound) represented by formula (1) as the liquid crystal alignment agent for forming a liquid crystal alignment film of a liquid crystal device of IPS and FFS method. (In the formula (1), R1 is a group having at least two monoaromatic structures. R2 is a connection group containing a double bond, a triple bond, an ether bond, an ester bond or an oxygen atom.
