PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rotary tiller which eliminates the need to remove a tilling claw when switching between a tilling operation and a ridging operation and which can form a flatly tilled earth surface. SOLUTION : A rotary shaft 9 having a plurality of tilling claws is configured so that its rotation direction can be switched between a normal rotation direction and a reverse rotation direction; an outer tilling claw 47 disposed on the outside of the rotary shaft 9 discharges tilled earth outward during normal rotation and reverse rotation; and an inner tilling claw 50 disposed on the inside of the rotary shaft 9 discharges tilled earth toward the inside of the rotary shaft 9 during normal rotation and discharges tilled earth toward the outside of the rotary shaft 9 during reverse rotation.
