PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a scintillator which is improved in efficiency with less afterglow, is high in stability under radiations, and has desirable X-ray blocking capability.
SOLUTION : A rare earth garnet scintillator is composed of a light emitting material with a garnet structure represented by (Gd1-x-y-zYxAyCez)3+u(Ga1-m-nAlmDn)5-uO12 : wFO. [In the formula, A is lutetium, lanthanum, terbium, dysprosium, or a combination thereof; D is indium, scandium, or a combination thereof; F is a divalent ion; 0≤x1].
