PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an electrolytic reduction precipitation method of a rare earth element, which can be utilized as a method for recovering the rare earth element from a processing object including the rare earth element such as an R-Fe-B-based permanent magnet, or a method for imparting functionality to an object to be processed or performing plating to the object to be processed by utilizing the rare earth element, or the like.
SOLUTION : By performing electrolytic reduction using an electrolytic solution prepared by dissolving a halide of a rare earth element in dialkyl sulfone, the rare earth element is reduced and precipitated on the surface of a cathode.
