简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a sintered compact, i.e., a precursor of rare-earth magnet having excellent coersive force performance, and to provide a production method therefor. SOLUTION : A sintered compact S consisting of crystal grains MP which are the main phase of Nd-Fe-B system, and a grain boundary phase BP around the main phase MP, is obtained by producing magnetic powder for rare-earth magnet by pulverizing an amorphous quick chilling ribbon B, and then heat treating the magnetic powder while compressing. A method of producing a sintered compact S, which is a precursor of a rare-earth magnet having such a structure that the ratio of the Nd-Fe alloy phase out of the grain boundary phase BP is 50 mass% or less, is also provided.
