PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a novel magnet capable of enhancing insulation property of a surface, and to provide a motor using the same.
SOLUTION : A magnet 10 comprises : a magnet element 2 that contains a rare-earth element R, a transition metal element T and boron B; and a phosphate layer 4 that contains manganese-containing phosphate. The phosphate layer 4 is provided on a surface of the magnet element 2, and has a thickness equal to or more than 0.5 μm.
