PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hearth roll superior in Mn build-up resistance, thermal shock resistance and abrasion resistance. SOLUTION : The thermal spraying material comprises : a nitride (including double nitride) of one or more elements selected from the group consisting of the group 3a (including rare earth element) in the periodic table, the group 4a, the group 5a, B, Al, Si, Cr and Fe; an oxide (including double oxide) of one or more elements selected from the group consisting of a rare earth element (Sc, Y and lanthanide elements), Al, Si, Ti, Cr and Zr; and a matrix metal of one or more metals selected from the group consisting of refractory metals (including alloy) usable at 900°C or higher.
