PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing an alloy piece for a rare earth magnet capable of reducing a variation in the crystal structure in an alloy piece by removing stuck matter stuck to a cooling roller, and an alloy piece for a rare earth magnet produced by the method.
SOLUTION : In a method for producing an alloy piece for a rare earth magnet by feeding a molten alloy to the outer peripheral surface of a cooling roller 3 and solidifying the same to cast an ingot 4 and then crushing the ingot 4, the outer peripheral surface of the cooling roller 3 is subjected to a blast treatment and stuck matter is removed from the outer peripheral surface of the cooling roller 3. Preferably, a projecting material that has a median diameter D50 of 3.0 mm or lower and includes one or more types from among a metallic projecting material, a non-metallic projecting material, and a resin-based projecting material is used as a projecting material when applying the blast treatment. Also, preferably, the discharge pressure is 0.10 to 1.00 MPa when applying the blast treatment.
