PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a ferritic stainless steel suitable as an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) cooler member to be subjected to Ni brazing. SOLUTION : Disclosed is a ferritic stainless steel for an EGR cooler member having a composition comprising, by mass, ≤0.03% C, >0.1 to 3% Si, 0.1 to 2% Mn, 10 to 25% Cr, 0.3 to 0.8% Nb and ≤0.03% N, and, if required, further selectively comprising (a) one or more selected from Mo, Cu, V and W in the range of ≤4% in total, (b) one or more selected from Ti, Al and Zr in the range of ≤0.3% in total, (c) one or more selected from Ni and Co in the range of ≤5% in total and (d) one or more selected from REM (rare earth elements) and Ca in the range of ≤0.2% in total, respectively, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
