PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a permanent magnet capable of generating a large coercive force with an Sm-Co system magnet having high iron concentration composition.
SOLUTION : The permanent magnet has a composition expressed by a composition formula : RpFeqZrrMsCutCo100-p-q-r-s-t (R : rare earth element, M : at least one type selected from Ti and Hf, 10≤p≤15, 24≤q≤40.5, 1.5≤r≤4.5, 0≤s≤2.3, 1.5≤r+s≤4.5, 0.8≤t≤13.5 (atom%)). The permanent magnet includes a main phase having a Th2Zn17 type crystal phase and a grain boundary phase having a crystal phase which exists in a crystal grain boundary of the main phase and has Zr concentration of 4 atom% to 35 atom% inclusive and which has a concentration of the element R of 5 atom% to 30 atom% inclusive.
