A diecasting Zn alloy wherein rare earth elements are uniformly dispersed without segregation and a process for the production thereof. A diecasting Zn alloy containing 3 to 5 mass% of Al, 0.03 to 0.06 mass% of Mg, and 0.01 to 1.0 mass% of one or more rare earth elements with the balance being Zn and unavoidable impurities, characterized by having a grain size of 5 to 10�m; and a process for the production of the alloy which comprises preparing a Zn alloy containing 3 to 5 mass% of Al, 0.03 to 0.06 mass% of Mg, and 0.01 to 1.0 mass% of one or more rare earth elements with the balance being Zn and unavoidable impurities under melting by the addition of an A1 master alloy containing one or more rare earth elements in an amount exceeding 3 mass% and below 10 mass% with the balance being Al and unavoidable impurities and solidifying the obtained Zn alloy. |
