PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an abrasion resistant steel sheet having excellent bending workability and suitable for a member in contact with earth and sand such as a power shovel, and to provide its production method. ŽSOLUTION : The steel sheet has a composition comprising, by mass, 0.05 to 0.35% C, 0.05 to 1.0% Si, 0.1 to 2.0% Mn and ≤0.1% Al, and further comprising one or more kinds selected from 0.1 to 1.0% Nb and 0.1 to 1.0% V, and one or more kinds selected from 0.1 to 1.0% Cu, 0.1 to 2.0% Ni, 0.1 to 1.0% Cr, 0.05 to 1.0% Mo, 0.05 to 1.0% W, 0.0003 to 0.0030% B and 0.005 to 0.5×(0.7×Si+1)×(3.33×Mn+1)×(0.35×Cu+1)×(0.36×Ni+1)×(2.16×Cr+1)×(3×Mo+1)×(1.5×W+1)...(1); wherein C*=C-(12/93×Nb+12/51×V).
