PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a nitrogen oxide storage catalyst lowered in a desulfurization temperature.
SOLUTION : The nitrogen oxide storage catalyst lowered in the desulfurization temperature comprises : a platinum component composed of platinum on a carrier material of an oxide having a high-surface area and a high-melting point; and at least one nitrogen oxide storage material containing at least one nitrogen oxide storage component on one or more high-melting point oxidic carrier materials where a half of the platinum component is arranged on a strongly-basic carrier material and the other half of the platinum component is arranged on a low basic carrier material, and where the nitrogen oxide storage catalyst additionally contains at least 5% by weight of a cerium oxide or aa cerium-zirconium mixed oxide or a cerium oxide doped with rare earth or the combination thereof based on the total amount of catalytically active components.
