PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an upconversion phosphor which is a ceramic having a practical luminance particularly which is a cerium oxide-based ceramic.
SOLUTION : In the upconversion phosphor which is a ceramic, cerium oxide (CeO2) as a base material is doped with a silicon atom (Si) and at least one rare earth atoms, wherein 0.1 to 50 atom% of the silicon atom (Si) is contained in 100 atom% of the total number of the silicon atom (Si), the cerium atom (Ce) and the whole rare earth atoms.
