PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dielectric ceramic composition which has both an improved reliability and an excellent DC bias characteristic, and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION : The dielectric ceramic composition includes a compound expressed by ABO(wherein, A includes Ba, and may optionally include Ca and Sr; B is Ti), a Zr oxide, a rare earth element oxide, and an Mg oxide. Dielectric grains and their grain boundaries exist in the composition. Let the maximum value of the amount of element R in a grain boundary 21 term Rmax, a region wherein Rmax is not less than 50% in dielectric grain 20 is termed a diffusion region 20b, and the region other than the region is termed a central region 20a. Let the amount of Zr in diffusion region 20b be Zr1, and the amount of Zr in the grain boundary 21 be Zr2, the ratio of the dielectric grains which satisfies the relationship of Zr1/Zr2≥1.5 accounts for not less than 50% relative to the total amount of the dielectric grains. This relationship is achieved by preparing an Mg-Zr-O solid solution in advance and sintering the material containing the same. |
