PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method that enables detecting rare cells being target cells even in the state where a number of remained noise cells are laminated despite the imperfection of a separation process.
SOLUTION : A method for detecting the target cells includes the following processes : (a) dispersing cell suspension containing the target cells and non-target cells on a substrate; (b) marking the target cells by using fluorescence labeled product; (c) acquiring first information relating to a position and intensity, on the obtained substrate at (a), of a luminescent signal produced by the irradiation of excitation light corresponding to the fluorescence labeled product which marks the target cells, and second information relating to a position and intensity, on the obtained substrate at (a), of an optical characteristic value of the non-target cells which value is produced by the irradiation of light with a different wavelength from the excitation light and a part of which is absorbed by the non-target cells; and (d) acquiring information whether the target cells exist based on the first information and the second information.
