The fluorescent lamp has a straight or circular glass discharge tube (2) with circular cross-section, and with an external diameter of less than or equal to 26 mm. The electrodes (3, 4) are molded into each respective end, with one at a slightly greater distance from the tube end than the other to enable a cold spot to form. There is a fluorescent coating on the inner wall and a mercury-rare gas filling. The sockets (9, 10) on each end of the tube have at least one socket pin (13, 14) and a sleeve (11, 12) each.
