PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a production method of an R-T-B based sintered magnet which enhances the production efficiency by increasing the processing amount at a time without causing any welding of an R-T-B based sintered magnet and a holding member, and prevents deterioration in the magnetic characteristics of an R-T-B based sintered magnet due to impurity gas or inhibition of the magnetic characteristics improvement effect of an R-T-B based sintered magnet due to diffusion of a heavy rare earth element RH.
SOLUTION : The production method of an R-T-B based sintered magnet includes a step for configuring a laminate by laminating an RH diffusion source and an R-T-B based sintered magnet alternately with a holding member interposed therebetween, a step for disposing the laminate in a processing container, a step for disposing a getter at at least one position in the processing container, and a step for performing RH supply and diffusion by bringing the interior of the processing container into an atmosphere of 0.1-50 Pa and 800-950°C.
