PURPOSE : A device and a method for removing moisture of rare earth chloride hydrate are provided to efficiently prevent the formation of a rare earth oxide by supplying an inert gas which has been preheated by increasing the temperature in stages.CONSTITUTION : A device for removing moisture of rare earth chloride hydrate comprises a containing unit(1), a heating unit(2), a gas supplying unit, and an electronic control unit(9). The containing unit contains the rare earth chloride hydrate. The heating unit increases the temperature in stages and removes the moisture by heating the rare earth chloride hydrate of the containing unit. The gas supplying unit supplies an inert gas to the containing unit in order to prevent the formation of a rare earth oxide or oxychloride in a dehydration process of the rare earth chloride hydrate.
