Provided are a rare earth permanent magnet and a method for manufacturing the rare earth permanent magnet whereby the magnetic properties of a permanent magnet are improved by appropriately performing magnetic field orientation. A magnetic material is pulverized into a magnetic powder, and a mixture is produced by mixing the pulverized magnetic powder with a binder. The mixture that was produced is then formed into a long sheet, and a green sheet (13) is manufactured. Next, before the molded green sheet (13) is dry, magnetic field orientation is performed by applying a magnetic field in the in-plane direction and width direction, or in the in-plane direction and length direction of the green sheet (13), and a permanent magnet (1) is manufactured by sintering green sheets (13). |
