简介 Disclosed is a steam reforming catalyst having high activity and long life, which is able to efficiently produce hydrogen by using hydrocarbon as the raw material. Specifically disclosed is a steam reforming catalyst obtained by loading an alumina carrier, which is caused to contain a rare earth metal, with at least one compound selected from ruthenium compounds and at least one compound selected from cobalt compounds. This steam reforming catalyst is characterized in that the rare earth metal is introduced into the alumina carrier by impregnation, and the amount of the rare earth metal is less than 8.5 μmol/m2 relative to the surface area of the alumina carrier. The steam reforming catalyst is further characterized in that the alumina carrier containing the rare earth metal is fired at 600-800 °C in the presence of oxygen before loading of the at least one compound selected from ruthenium compounds and the at least one compound selected from cobalt compounds.
