PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a sodium secondary battery requiring a smaller amount of Li which is a rare metal than that required for conventional lithium secondary batteries, offering an improved discharge capacity when reaching low voltages during operation, and offering handleability during manufacture and a high discharge capacity superior to conventional sodium secondary batteries.
SOLUTION : The sodium secondary battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolyte mainly containing sodium ions, and the positive electrode contains an active material containing a lithium-containing complex metallic oxide represented by the formula (1) : LiaAbMcOd, where A represents one or more kinds of elements selected from the group consisting of Na and K, M represents one or more kinds of transition metal elements, 0
