PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a manufacturing method of a light olefin and/or a monocyclic aromatic compound that enhances both a conversion rate and a yield of an aimed product in a catalytic cracking reaction where a moving bed reactor is used.
SOLUTION : The manufacturing method of a light olefin and/or a monocyclic aromatic compound comprises carrying out a catalytic cracking reaction by bringing a hydrocarbon raw material into contact with a catalyst in the presence of steam in a moving bed reactor, where pentasil zeolite having an Si/Al atomic ratio smaller than 50 and containing a rare earth element is used as the catalyst.
