PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method and an apparatus useful for improving productivity in a carburizing and quenching treatment of a steel component, which can flexibly cope with production fluctuation, can effectively produce even a little amount without wasting, and an apparatus configuration which suites to a production situation without wasting by unitizing each process. SOLUTION : The method for carburizing and quenching a workpiece to be treated of a steel component is characterized by transferring the treated workpiece through a carburization process or a diffusion process to a temporary cooling process, a re-heating process, a quenching process, or the like, with a transferring unit which is kept under such a reduced pressure that the above workpiece is not oxidized or decarbonized. |
