PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To improve a luminous flux maintenance rate on lighting, a deterioration of chromaticity with age and a color difference at the ends of a tube in a fluorescent lamp for backlight, and further, to improve these characteristics in the fluorescent lamp for backlight with an expanded range of color reproducibility using SCA fluorescent body and the like. ŽSOLUTION : Since the fluorescent lamp using the fluorescent body, in which the surface of the fluorescent body particles is coated with a surface treating substance containing a rare earth borate and a rare earth hydroxide, has the reduced color difference at the ends of the tube on lighting, the high luminous flux maintenance rate and the low deterioration of chromaticity with age, the fluorescent lamp can be suitably used as a light source for the backlight and the like of a color liquid crystal display apparatus.
