简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a highly-efficient method and apparatus for recovering rare earth metals, without using an organic solvent or ion exchange resin upon purification and concentration and without the need of an exchange of an electrode in an electrolytic cell. SOLUTION : The method includes : a first step of producing alloys of each of a plurality kinds of rare earth metals being recovery targets and metals having different melting points to each store the alloys as rare earth alloy cathodes 3 and 4 to a plurality of cathode vessels 5a and 5b in the electrolytic cell 1; a second step of adding oxalic acid to a solution containing the plurality kinds of rare earth metals being the recovery targets to produce a plurality kinds of oxalate precipitates; a third step of heating and drying the oxalate precipitates to obtain a plurality kinds of rare earth oxides; a fourth step of mixing and melting the plurality kinds of rare earth oxides with molten salt 2 in the electrolytic cell 1; and a fifth step of fluidifying the rare earth alloy cathodes in ascending order of the melting points to sequentially recover the rare earth metals in the molten salt to the rare earth alloy cathodes 3 and 4 by molten salt electrolysis.
