PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To identify the re-gene of silkworm, to use the identified re-gene to modify the colors of the egg and eye of the silkworm, and to use the identified re-gene as a gene marker to screen a gene recombination silkworm.
SOLUTION : A positional cloning means or the like is used to identify the re-gene, and it has been found that the red coloration of the egg and eye of silkworm is caused by the fact that a standard type pigment is not synthesized by the loss of the function of the gene. There have been found that the colors of the egg and eye of the silkworm can be modified by the use of the gene, and additionally that a gene recombination silkworm can efficiently be screened by using the change of the character as an index.
