As a gear oil composition that achieves both fuel saving performance and satisfactory durability of gears, bearings and the like, provided is a gear oil composition obtained by blending 0.02 to 0.5 mass % in terms of quantity of metallic zinc, relative to the total mass of the gear oil composition, of a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (D) and 0.1 to 0.5 mass % in terms of elemental metal, relative to the total mass of the gear oil composition, of an alkaline earth metal-based detergent (E) having a base number of 100 mg KOH/g or higher in a base oil obtained by blending 2 to 40 mass %, relative to the total mass of the base oil composition, of a solvent-refined mineral oil-based lubricating oil (B) having a kinematic viscosity of 10 to 70 mm2/s at 100°C in a mineral oil-based lubricating base oil (A) having a kinematic viscosity of 2 to 6 mm2/s at 100°C, a %CA of 0.5 or lower and a tertiary carbon content of 7% or higher. |
