PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an europium activated rare earth phospho-vanadate phosphor exhibiting high color purity and light emission luminance, hardly causing reduction in luminance due to firing, and having excellent grain properties.
SOLUTION : The particle-shaped europium activated rare earth phospho-vanadate phosphor has a multiphase structure including a matrix and a peripheral phase existing in the periphery of the matrix. The matrix includes : at least one element selected from the group consisting of Y, La, Gd and Lu; at least one element selected from the group consisting of Eu, P and V; and O. The peripheral phase includes at least one element selected form the group consisting of Nb, Mo, Ta, W and P.
