PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a lightweight structure for a substrate, which, on the one hand, eliminates the incorporation of an additional member or a support element, and on the other hand, exhibits mechanical stability nearly equivalent to dynamic stress and static stress.
SOLUTION : A monolithic substrate 10 contains a glass or a glass ceramic in order to have a light-weight structure. The lightweight structure has recesses whose ranges are defined by a mesh structure, for example, a mesh structure forming pockets of quadrangles or shapes having four vertices. Due to the lightweight structure, the weight of the substrate 10 can be largely reduced, and a high rigidity can be secured. The substrate 10 is used as a mirror support or a mirror, and can be utilized on the earth and/or out of the earth.
