SUBSTANCE : fibre laser of the "master oscillator-power amplifier" type includes a master oscillator, a power amplifier, a wavelength conversion unit and a wavelength filter. The power amplifier uses as a gain medium, a rare earth-doped optical fibre which is connected to a last stage of the master oscillator. The wavelength conversion unit lies between the master oscillator and the power amplifier. The wavelength filter lies between the wavelength conversion unit and the master oscillator and only allows wavelength components of pulsed light emitted from the master oscillator to pass.
EFFECT : preventing damage to a fibre laser by reflected light.
