PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a positive electrode containing a sulfur-based positive electrode active material and capable of improving cycle characteristics and discharge rate characteristics of a lithium ion secondary battery.
SOLUTION : A positive electrode for a lithium ion secondary battery contains : a sulfur-based positive electrode active material containing carbon (C) and sulfur (S); and a conducting material containing sulfur (S). At least a part of the conducting material comprises sulfide of at least one metal selected from the group consisting of fourth-period metals, fifth-period metals, sixth-period metals and rare earth elements.
