A positive active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell which comprises an oxide (X) containing lithium and at least one transition element of Co, Ni, Mn and Fe and an oxide (Y) represented by LiLnO2 wherein Ln represents at least one of Y, Sc and tri-valent rare earth metals; a method for preparing the positive active material; and a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell comprising a positive electrode having a positive active material powder containing the positive active material, an negative electrode and an alectrolyte. The positive active material effectively improves loading characteristics in a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell and thus allow the manufacture of a high capacity non-aqueous electrolyte secondary cell. |
