PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth metal complex that can be excited with excitation light of a longer wavelength than the conventional compound and has superior emission intensity.
SOLUTION : The rare earth metal complex comprises a rare earth metal atom and a β-diketone compound expressed by formula (1) that is coordinated to the rare earth metal atom. In formula (1), R represents a monovalent aromatic hydrocarbon group or an aromatic heterocyclic group.
