简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing an oxide superconductor capable of manufacturing the oxide superconductor which is good in the reproducibility of crystal orientation, is controlled in the solid solution ratio in a phase to a suitable value, exhibits a high critical current density characteristic and has excellent electric characteristics, magnetic characteristics, mechanical strength and environment resistance. SOLUTION : The calcined powder obtained by subjecting a raw material mixture containing an RE compound (RE is a rear earth element containing Y), a Ba compound and a Cu compound to calcination treatment is molded to make a precursor and this precursor is installed within a furnace casing wherein the atmosphere is replaced with an oxygen partial pressure 0 to 0.01%, and the precursor is subjected to the calcination treatment at 800 t 1000 deg.C. The temperature is then lowered down to at least <=600 deg.C, more preferably down to room temperature and again the interior of the furnace casing is replaced with an atmosphere of oxygen partial pressure 0.01 to 3%. The temperature is then elevated up to the temperature at which the precursor is decomposed and melted to separate an RE2 BaCuO5 phase (211 phase) or RE4 Ba2 Cu2 O10 phase (422 phase) and a liquid phase and is then slowly cooled, by which the melt is solidified to grow a crystal.
