Cationic or amphoteric copolymer obtained by Hofmann degradation reaction, in aqueous solution in the presence of alkaline earth hydroxide and/or alkaline hydroxide and alkaline earth hypohalide and/or alkaline hypohalide, on a base copolymer comprising at least one nonionic monomer comprising acrylamide (and/or methacrylamide), N, N-dimethylacrylamide and/or acrylonitrile, where the base copolymer is modified with at least one polyfunctional compound containing at least 3 heteroatoms comprising nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen, and phosphorus and each having at least one mobile hydrogen, is claimed. |
