PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet having excellent corrosion resistance.
SOLUTION : A rare earth magnet 100 comprises an RL-T-B based magnet element 10 containing a light rare earth element RL, a transition metal element T and boron B, and a protective layer 20 covering the surface of the magnet element 10. The protective layer 20 contains RL, T and Al, and the magnet element 10 and the protective layer 20 each contain Fe as T. Content of RL in the protective layer 20 is 31-40 atom% for the total amount of RL, T and Al in the protective layer 20, content of T in the protective layer 20 is 35-64 atom% for the total amount of RL, T and Al in the protective layer 20, and content of Al in the protective layer 20 is 5-25 atom% for the total amount of RL, T and Al in the protective layer 20.
