PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for recovering iron group elements and rare earth elements, which includes dissolving the iron group elements and rare earth elements into an ionic liquid and selectively separating these elements, and to provide an apparatus for recovering iron group elements and rare earth elements, which is used for the recovering method.
SOLUTION : The method for recovering iron group elements and rare earth elements includes : a process A for recovering the iron group elements from an ionic liquid, in which a resource containing the iron group elements and rare earth elements is dissolved, by electrolytic deposition; and a process B for recovering the rare earth elements from the ionic liquid, subjected to the recovery treatment of the iron group elements, by electrolytic deposition. In the method for recovering iron group elements and rare earth elements using an ionic liquid, the ionic liquid is composed of a quaternary phosphonium cation or a quaternary ammonium cation and an anion selected from BF4, PF6, N[SO2(CF2)nCF3]2, N(SO2F)2, SO3CF3, SO3CH3, CF3COO, SCN, N(CN)2, halogens, (R5O)2POO, (R6O)2PSS, and R7COO.
