PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a glass having an excellent resistance for the generation of damage like a point scratch and hole on the glass surface.
SOLUTION : The glass includes aluminosilicate glass which has constituents of 0.3% or more alkaline earth oxide and 0.1-4% of phosphoric acid. The glass is formed by a float process. The glass has a precipitate of alkaline earth phosphate with a specific arrangement on the glass surface, by keeping the glass at least for 10 minutes at a temperature of 1, 000°C or more on a float bath in the glass formation process.
