PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a phosphor with adjustable afterglowing property and to provide a light emitting device. SOLUTION : The invention relates to the nitride phosphor activated with europium, expressed by the following general formula and added with at least an elements selected from rare earth elements, tetravalent elements, or trivalent elements as an additive element to adjust afterglowing property. The general formula is following, MwAlxSiyN((2/3)w+x+(4/3)y) : Eu, wherein each of w, x, y satisfies following formulas, 0.04≤w≤9, x=1, 0.056≤y≤18, M is at least a kind selected from a group comprising Mg, Ca, Sr and Ba.
